Appeals Process

If you believe that you have grounds for appeal, please complete an Appeal Form and return it direct to The Billericay School(for the attention of Mrs Barton, Admissions Officer).

Please be aware that in light of the ongoing health situation, the Government has released guidelines with regards to the hearing of appeals in person-alternative methods may be implemented.

Deadline for lodging an Appeal

Appeals are to be sent direct to The Billericay School.

This is the latest date to lodge an appeal against a refusal of a place if you want an appeal to be heard before the end of the Summer term.

Appeal Hearings

For those lodged by deadline of 15 April 2022

Up to 31 August 2022

In the case of Year 6 to 7 entrants, the waiting list is initially maintained by Essex LA (up to 31 August 2022) and thereafter by the school.

In all year groups, waiting lists operate in accordance with the school’s Admissions Criteria and are maintained for the academic year.

September 2022 onwards

Late Appeal Hearings

For those lodged late – i.e. after deadline date and not heard by the end of the Summer term.

    • The Billericay School will write to the parent/carer’s of students that are listed on the school’s waiting list (for September 2022 Intake), providing details of how to lodge an appeal.
    • On 24 April 2020, the Government released guidelines for schools to follow with regards to the hearing of admission appeals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Those guidelines have been extended by the Government to be in place until 30 September 2022.
    • Therefore, appeals lodged by parents/carers in relation to refusal of a place at The Billericay School will be held virtually (via Zoom).
