The Billericay School

Registration

Registration

The school uses the ‘Lesson Monitor’ software within the ‘Attendance’ module of SIMS.net to register students. Registration is completed electronically via the staff terminals installed in each classroom. Registers must be taken at the beginning of every lesson. Period 1 and 5 registers are the legal record of morning and afternoon attendance and the electronic register must be completed [PE have limited access and they will continue to send a paper register to Attendance Office within 10 minutes of the start of the lesson for manual entry by the Attendance Administrator. Attendance for lessons 2, 3, 4 & 6 is also recorded in Lesson Monitor in the same way. Staff have the authority to record the number of minutes by which a student is late, if applicable.

Start and Close of Registration

The school will complete accurate registers at the beginning of each morning and afternoon session; i.e. within 10 minutes of the start of the lesson.

Registration begins at 8.35 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. each school day and registers will be closed 30 minutes after these times.

If a student arrives after the register has closed, they should report to the Attendance Office to be entered into the late record book.

Students arriving after the register has closed, without an acceptable reason, will be marked as having an unauthorised absence for that session.
