Textile Students get a taste of Italian Fashion in Milan

From 4 to 6 April 2025, a group of Year 9 and 10 students had the incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Italian fashion during a two night trip to Milan – one of the fashion capitals of the world.

The adventure began on Friday with a visit to one of Milan’s renowned fashion museums - Palazzo Morando. Students explored the evolution of Italian fashion, gaining insight into iconic designers, historic garments and how culture has influenced style over the decades. Later that day, the group took a scenic walk through the Navigli District, famous for its picturesque canals and vibrant atmosphere.

Saturday offered a deep dive into the heart of Milan’s fashion industry. The group embarked on a guided tour of the city’s famous Fashion District, known as the "Quadrilatero della Moda," home to luxury brands and designer flagships. Students then took part in an exciting hands-on fashion workshop led by an Italian fashion designer. They explored Italian fabrics, sketching and pattern making, whilst also learning about the Italian approach to craftsmanship and couture.

The afternoon was spent looking at the architectural beauty of the Milan Cathedral, followed by some well-earned shopping time in the city’s stylish retail hubs – a chance to see trends up close and even bring home some fashionable finds.

Throughout the trip, students were inspired not only by Milan’s style and culture but also by the passion and creativity at the heart of the global fashion industry. It was an unforgettable experience that brought classroom learning to life.

We’re incredibly proud of how our students represented the school and are excited to see how their Milan experience will influence their upcoming textile designs and future careers.
